merlin03561967 days agoAfan makes Roatán! The best tour guide on the entire island! We've been to Roatán several times and have done many different tours and activities on our own and with guides. Afan and his lovely wife, Michi, are a couple who offer the best personalized and reasonable tours ever. We started with a full-day experience: Afan picked us up in his clean, air-conditioned van and served us delicious local empanadas for breakfast. Then he took us to the ziplines (we've done almost everything on the island; this was one of the few we missed) and the monkey and sloth park. The zipline was fabulous, and the handling of the monkeys and sloths was very hands-on. Afan clearly chose a place where the zipline guides and sloth/monkey handlers know what to do and how to treat customers. Amazing experience! Next, we drove to the eastern end of the island for a monsoon tour and a visit to the Hole in the Wall bar/restaurant. As we drove, Afan talked a bit about the island's culture and pointed out numerous places to take pictures, such as the amazing rooftop bar/restaurant called Kristi's Overlook. We never once rushed off, and Afan would stop to take pictures wherever we wanted. We also went to the truly historic cultural center of Punta Gorda and experienced some local culinary delights! Overall, the best day trip ever.

We loved our stay in Roatan. The place is clean, quiet, peaceful and spacious! Michi and Afran were great hosts and so friendly. The pool is so nice after walking back from the west end, being able to lounge and take a dip. (Next time I would bring something to float on in the pool!) Beds are clean and comfortable. Kitchen was clean and equipped with modern appliances. The walk into town is a bit hilly and rough so just keep that in mind if you choose not to have a rental car (we did not). Easy enough to get a taxi from the main road. Overall it was a great stay and we’d love to visit the island again some day.Posted on Tripadvisor
Laura W1927 days agoAmazing day and so many memories made. I can't say enough good things about the day trips in Roatan. We were in Roatan for four days, and the day trip with your company was my favorite. My favorite part of the day was ziplining and learning about Garifuna culture. Our tour guide, Afan, was punctual, professional, and knowledgeable. He also has a deep connection to the local culture and a passion for conservation. He went above and beyond to ensure we had a wonderful experience. If you're thinking about taking a day trip in Roatan, do it and look no further. Roatan is the best!

I booked the wrong day and was contacted by Afan who made the correction with no problem and Afan kept in communication once we arrived in port and during the excursion. Marek was our guide and he was very nice and took us for some really good local food. We did the sloth monkey rum and chocolate factory! Samuel C567 days agoFun Times in Roatán Before our cruise, I contacted Roatan Day Tours with specific requests for things we wanted to do. Afan, the owner, got in touch and helped set up a private tour for the four of us at a very reasonable price. We met Jason (JJ) at the end of the pier, who was going to be our guide for the day. He was great. A local guy with a lot of knowledge about the island and its customs and quirks. The car was comfortable and air-conditioned. JJ wheeled us around the island to get us to our desired destinations on time and avoid crowds everywhere. We had been to Roatán before, and the highlight for my wife in the past was holding and cuddling a sloth, so some quality sloth time was a must. JJ took us to a very nice sanctuary and had fun playing with monkeys bouncing in and out of us, holding colorful birds, and of course, some sloth time. From there, we went to a very nice zipline park that also had animals to see. We went ziplining and then they went to see the animals, and they quickly realized the great service Afan provided for visiting the first sanctuary. From there, it was some local sightseeing, destination photos, a stop at the chocolate factory before returning to our ship, completely satisfied with our tour. I can't say enough good things about J., the guide, and Afan, our coordinator. They took great care of us, and I would hire them again in a heartbeat.

Sheila59 days agoOur stay at CalmAway Cottage was our best AirBnB experience ever. We loved the pool which was super refreshing. We like to cook and found that the kitchen had everything we needed. He asked us questions in route to the sloths to see what all we wanted to do not just a pre scripted tour that might not interest everyone. Shawn Raines1178 days agoThis company is one of the best tour guide companies I have ever had. We were lucky enough to get the owner, Afan. He was great. I highly recommend this company! I promise you won't regret it! He brought us home made empanadas, which were the best I've ever eaten! He tells you the history of the island, and takes you to some great places! This guy makes you feel at home. I was a little worried getting off the boat but he immediately makes you feel like family! I hope you give his company a try! He's the best there is! It was very easy to get to the West End and all that had to offer. Afan the caretaker was absolutely amazing, from the second that we arrived to the day we left he was extremely accommodating and made our stay awesome. We would highly recommend this to anyone visiting Roatan and definitely will consider staying here again! dkboutdoors2402 days agoIsland Tour (Snorkeling, Fishing, Lunch, and Dolphins): Our time with Afan was amazing. He was so positive, optimistic, and enthusiastic about showing us the island. He treated our young children like royalty, always making sure they had a great time and everything they needed. The fishing was excellent, followed by a locally prepared lunch at Bonnies Sunset Grill, a snorkeling adventure, and swimming with the dolphins. Afan has a great knowledge of the island and genuinely wants people to have a wonderful time.

The house is nice, comfortable, and clean. We enjoyed our stay in th house. We suggest making the location instructions clear for guests that are not familiar with the area, perhaps a sign directing guests to the house would be helpful. Also to note, the road to the house is not suited for smaller cars, so be aware that an SUV may be better. Sima191 days agoAn absolutely amazing cabin! Peaceful, private, and beautifully surrounded by lush vegetation. The space is airy, thoughtfully designed, and incredibly comfortable. It’s also just a pleasant walk to West End Beach, where you’ll find as much activity and entertainment as you like, along with stunning sunsets! Michelle and her husband are wonderful hosts, friendly, welcoming, and always quick to respond to any needs. He took us to all of our destinations, explaining everything along the way. The sloth farm and Monkeys were a huge hit for the children. Lunch along the waterfront to end the day. The only thing to know, is that the port is very busy and can be hectic to find the guide. This is not the company’s fault though. Just take your time to look or ask the other travel companies. They work together well and actually called our company for us. It helped us find Dale faster.Posted on Google

Howard Y622 days agoPerfect Roatán excursion! The views were incredible, Afan was very friendly, and all the places were fun. Highly recommend. The car was clean, he brought us delicious food, and he gave us recommendations. He knows how to work around crowds and cruise ships.
